highlights!

Here's the deal. I haven't written in a while for several reasons:

A. Too much has been happening. The easiest way to describe my workload is through this metaphor: I'm drowning. I have so much (all freelance though!)  due in the next few weeks that I'm cringing here at the IS. On the flipside, though, someone put it in perspective for me: everything I do is fun. Its the kind of stuff I'd love to do for a career and at the rate I'm going, I could probably start some sort of freelance gig right out of school. But I digress.

B. I'm drowning in part because I've been having way too much fun. WAY too much. [Editor's note: this is all fun sans alcohol. I haven't really drank much at all this semester due to: it being expensive, and the desire is running thin. So its like, real life fun!] This is in part because subconsciously I'm scared that once I graduate and move home, everything will be a 180 and I'll be working 24/7 and have no time to see people or do fun things and everything will be so expensive! Basically I'm a boatload of feelings about this life transition. Turns out I'm not the emotionless robot someone once told me I was.

C. Spring Break happened and I'm not too sure how to explain it other than it was nuts. Absolutely positively nuts. I think I aged 20 years in the span of 7 days.

D. This week is being branded as "Rage Week" due to 3 birthdays (Grant, Shannon and YuYu) and the Spring Game and about 133 friends coming into town. Get ready y'all, its about to get ratchet up in here.

E. There are just too many good stories to share and I don't have time to write them down. I'll write down this one though:

A few weekends back, one of the best weekends I've ever had occurred.  Grant and I went to DC on a Thursday, caught a Nats game, waddled around DC the next day, got free food from all families involved, went out with my rowdy and awkward crew, went to a wedding, and just all in all enjoyed a weekend of pure merriment.

The wedding was that of my third cousin. Let me tell you, it was SWANKY. Fanciest event I've ever been to. All my siblings were there, plus Caroline's boyfriend Robadob and Grant. We made up a game where we had to insert three random words into conversations with the randos at the wedding. The words (at one point, anyway) were Pistachio, Unicorn, and Rubber Ducky. Grant and I might've had to fib a little and tell this one kid that I was a mythology major studying unicorns, and that Grant was a chemical engineer and in one of his classes he got to make the plastic that rubber duckies are made out of ("it took so long, I had to survive off pisatchios and coffee. That's college - in a nutshell!"The kid literally threw his head back and laughed for 3 minutes straight after that one (he was homeschooled) ) but we succeeded.

More highlights of the wedding:

Grant started playing his air guitar super intensely. So intense that he laid on the ground and started "running" in circles. The photographer ran over and started taking a million pictures. The (super drunk) best man was so excited about this that he told Grant at least 10 times "DUDE THOSE ARE GONNA BE AWESOME PICTURES!!!"

Everyone was dancing up a storm, including the parents. When "This is how we do it" came on (they had a great live band that played everything from Bruce Springsteen to Rihanna), Grant and I started doing the "air spank" (not sure what else to call it...I asked Grace, my coworker, and she said 'The hit that dance?' haha) and my parents started doing it too! In turn, they both asked me "is this...spanking??" I just said "Oh no! No! Not at all!" Hehe, sorry mom and dad. My dad was the best part though: he was bouncing around real low on the ground, doing the air spank while also doing his best Gollum move impression (although don't tell him it looked like that). I haven't laughed so hard in who knows how long.

So there you have it. Life is good and in one month, I graduate. I'll update this soon with my summer plans...which as of now, could be absolutely positively anything. Thailand and Australia? WHY NOT!

Stay tuned.
