Disclaimer
Okay, not to wimp out on the photo a day thing, but I jumped the gun. Some days I'm so busy at work/home that I don't have time to think about the next time I'm going to eat, let alone plot out a semi-artsy, interesting photo to share with the 16 people that might click on this Twitter link. Sorry. I think I get a little New Years Resolution happy this time of the year. "This is going to be THAT YEAR!" I still think it will be that year, of course, but I don't think I need to post a photo a day to prove it. So...there's that.
I felt compelled to stop building portal pages* for my job to write, though. This year is going to be off the chain BALLIN and there is a good reason. I may not be dedicated to the photo a day thing (does that make me a quitter? Yes, yes it does), I am, however, dedicated to taking some chances. As small as they might be. A friend of mine at work just randomly turned to me the other day and said "I think we should all make 2014 the year of being fearless." My first thought was "Okayyyyy T Swift" and then I thought about Divergent and the faction Dauntless, and then I kind of thought about it, and decided she was right. I'm not thinking about it in those romantic, emotionally charged, eyes gazing out across the Grand Canyon terms, I'm thinking more realistically. Really doe, what do we have to lose? Why not work super hard at my job, day in and day out? Why not try to be as nice to everyone I come in contact with as possible? (note, that one is a work in progress). Why not? AND THEN I heard Russell Wilson say that the Seahawks constantly ask themselves "Why not us?" and it was an explosion of cheesy goodness and pure, beautiful kismet.
There. So far in 2014 I've committed to a ski trip (first time in probably 10 years), Firefly music festy , a graphic design mentorship program and a week in Barbados. Then I have a multitude of people who are constantly throwing around different travel ideas. I still want to do Thailand...as stated this time last year in this blog...but if a different idea came along, say a road trip through america where we vlog/blog all about the different food we eat, I am all ears.
Btw if you're going to Firefly you should take a listen to Smallpools, the Mowglis, Cash Cash and Nonono. Mah bbs.
*Its a website, sort of, oh never mind just deal with it!
