Shark Bear Attack
As it may happen, I have pneumonia and have been ordered to lie in bed for about 4 days. I can write something! Perhaps I had this coming for me. There was a 5 week period where I had something going on every single day (for real I had a little dot on every single stinking day for 5 weeks in my Google calendar). Two of those weeks I didn't even get home every night until 11 or 12, and I'm no Ke$ha, it was bound to catch up to me at some point. That's sort of what the doctor told me, when you're so go go goooooo your health kind of falls by the wayside and then all of a sudden you GET PNEUMONIA. Also you don't "have time" to clean your room and that happens too.
The last time I stopped by, I kind of ranked my favorite shows of the past year. Now I can rank my favorite movies that I've seen over the last 2 months or so.
1. BIG HERO 6
GO SEE THIS. Its beautiful! Baymax, the big white blubby thing, is so cuddly and precious. It takes place in San Fransokyo and its just what you'd imagine: San Francisco Japanese-ified. The whole thing is so cool.
2. NIGHTCRAWLER
Ann Hornaday won't agree with this being so high up but ferk her, this is my blog! I loved Nightcrawler. Jake G is so creepy and odd. Something that happens in it is so incredibly shocking that I gasped. When's the last time you gasped? That's right, probably not since SPOILER ALERT Dumbledore died.
3. BIRDMAN
This is a movie that you can't see unless you swear to me that you will notice what's so cool about it: Its shot in one take. Okay, clearly not really, but its supposed to look like it is. Because of this, the whole thing swirls together effortlessly. Its also hilarious and makes you ponder things: does he really have powers? Could Holly from the Office really love anyone but Michael Scott? Does Emma Stone really want to do "things" to Edward Norton? Who wouldn't?? Ponder all those things after you see Birdman.
4. BOYHOOD
Okay ugh. Boyhood is probably #1 but it came out so long ago AND I can't do that to Big Hero 6. I didn't want Boyhood to end, that's how in love with it I was at the time. It WILL win all the Oscars!
5. FRANK
Frank was a super little movie, although Frank in the movie itself had a huge papier mache head. It has Michael Fassbender. Perhaps that's all you need to know. It was so, so weird. SEE IT!!
6. WHIPLASH
This was okay. Out of all of these, it was my least favorite. This is not to say it was bad. Miles Teller is pretty cute though.
I'm the most mad about the timing of this pneumonia thing because I was supposed to see Foxcatcher last night. There is no one I love more than Steve Carell. NO ONE. [Editor's note: except perhaps, Andy Samberg, Taylor Swift, Josh Groban or Tina Fey] All I want to do is see him change his entire career trajectory by seeing him with a prosthetic nose!! Beyond that, doing nothing has been sort of nice.
This morning, my mom and I gleefully laughed over the side effects of my medicine. "Tendon rupturing" was a big one, and we imagined all my tendons rupturing at once. Kabooom! It will happen too, mark my words. Before Caroline left for her adventures we shared laughs too << LOL who says that?? I guess I just did. Maybe I should mention that I'm home. My dad picked me up from Urgent Care yesterday and took me straight home. I'm sure I've felt as bad as I did yesterday but in comparison to today, I might as well have been dead. Today I can actually feel my face! Who knew that pneumonia meant your entire face feels like its being run over constantly by a truck? Now I do! Oh my gosh...so much pressure...just in my FACE. Isn't this just supposed to be in my lungs? My brain is scrambled. Anyway, having home so close is truly a #blessing. My parents are pretty nice peeps to keep me here.
So let's see. What else has been going on?
I'm volunteering with the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. Every Wednesday, I teach three third grade girls about STEM stuff. All baseball related. At first, I thought these girls were going to eat me alive. Now, we're all good buds. They're really cute and funny. The other week I asked them about One Direction. I pulled out my laptop so we could dissect the boys together:
I kid you not. That's how it went down.
I'm pretty sad I didn't get to see them tonight. They've been making my weeks!
For the next 2 months I have no sports and (hardly any) no concerts planned so I'm about to be super lame on weekday nights. Which maybe isn't a bad thing. Maybe everyone should be super lame on weekday nights just to ensure they don't get PNEUMONIA!!
Peace n blessings, happy holiday season!
PS The title of this entry comes from a group chat today...just know that Brett Mandeville thinks I got attacked by a Shark Bear and that's why I'm home.
