Life update...because its been a while

Ugh guys, I haven't posted in 4 months. For all my faithful reader (yes, reader, because the only reader is my mom I'm pretty sure), I'm sure you're wondering what's been going on, what's the happs! I assure you – all is okay! Perhaps, even, better than okay! Life is really not too bad right now!

For one, I am now 25. I had a little birthday fiesta involving a murder mystery party. Invited 35~ of my amigos, assigned each of them a role, asked my grandparents if I could use their basement as the venue, and voila! Instant party. It was kind of a riot; the whole thing was Oscar after-party themed and everyone got glammed up for the occasion. Beyond that, though, most people got super into their roles and chaos ensued. At one point, my cousin, an aspiring rapper named T-Redd, was screaming at Katelyn, a pop star named...Pop Princess...(I didn't make up all the names, I swear) about who gave who an STD. That was definitely off the script. But still. I'd be running around the party making sure things were going swimmingly and every now and then a huge fight would break out between certain characters. Annelyse's character, Angel Wood, got murdered by Brett's character, Brady Comeback, because Angel was dating Hunter Starr who was Brady's ex-bandmate. Brady wanted to get the group back together for a reunion tour, but Hunter wanted to star in Angel's next film with her. The two things (the tour and the movie filming) would start on the same date. So Brady offed Angel in order to secure Hunter for the tour! MADNESS! I recommend murder mysteries to everyone.

The best part, for me, of the whole thing was that there were a bunch of characters who's names I got to make up. The ones like Princess Pop and Vanity Affair and Barbie Doll...no, those were already in the kit I bought, but names like Jig LePuff, Yolanda Ninnymugs, George Buckley and Misty B. Rock, yup, those were all me! And Dirk Dinglebunz and DJ Bluntz. Classics.

What else? I went on two ski trips. One with srat sistas and one with Laura and her friend Emily. Both were fun and filled with laughs.

look at how darn happy we are dawww

I experienced what true and unadulterated happiness is on both trips, but maybe a teensy bit more so on the second one. We went down to Snowshoe, WV for a Sunday-Tuesday ski trip. We previously bought these 3 day passes at a super discounted price and really didn't want to go during the weekend AND I got a free day of PTO from my boss for not screwing up our designs for a full month! Go me! So off we went to West Virginia. Laura, Emily and I were perfectly matched as far as skill levels go. We were flying down the double blacks by the end of the first hour. And we never really stopped. Maybe why I loved it so much had something to do with the lack of service up on the mountain, and the fact that while we were evenly matched as far as skiing/snowboarding goes, we were all also equally matched in the goofiness department. The three of us just started singing on the lifts, singing everything you can imagine. We called ourselves Fat Camp (you don't even want to know what we ate....okay we ate bagel bites and macaroni and cheese the whole time) and finally, people started to notice. We had fans! Our biggest fans were these 4 boys who live and work on the mountain; they operate the terrain park. Anyway, they started yelling at us and requesting songs, and of course we obliged. We ended up becoming buddies with these boys and are now rampant social media friends. They snuck us into a hot tub at 3 am too. They were cool.

So that whole skiing shebang was 4 months ago (!!!!) but I remember it like it was yesterday and had to write it down. I've never had a better weekend.

day 3 of my eye saga

Another update: for the past 3 weeks, I've been sporting a black eye. Legit, a giant black and purple shiner. I got it from a soccer game. Get this: I was sick the day it happened. I had/have a chronic sinus infection that hasn't really gone away in 5 years. Its bad. I don't think I notice it anymore. I should get it checked out. ANYWAY, soccer was due to start that night, but I was laying in bed, mourning my throbbing face, telling Shannon that I just wasn't going to go. My captain, this guy Matt, started texting me "please pleaseeee come! I'm sick too!! COME ON!!" So of course, I get changed and drive all the way to Chantilly. I'm 15 minutes late to the game. I get thrown in, run for about 5 minutes, touch the ball maybe 2 times, and then BAM, a teammate and I collide heads. The swelling started immediately. I ran off the field, arms flailing, and grabbed my phone to snap the evidence. No lie, as I was taking pictures, I could see it swelling, faster and faster, finally enveloping my eye. What are the odds, I wasn't even going to go to the game! And now here I am, 3 weeks later, my eye still kinda swollen. The blackness is about 90% gone. Oh and on top of that, I got a concussion from it. I went to the ER the next night and got catscans and even got to get out of work for a few days. Don't get concussions kids! I felt like I was drunk walking around at work (why I went in the next day, I'll never know). So that's been my past month.

LET'S NOT FORGET: The Nats are back in business! In an attempt to not be a crazy person about them this season, I haven't posted much about them. I will refrain. BUT THEY WILL  BE SO GOOD AHHH!!!

There are more developments in the works that I'll update you with as time goes on. For now, I wish you all a blessed Friday.
