I really have much better things to be doing than writing this but I have a story that needs to be shared. It happened last night...
My good friend Abby came down from Charlottesville for the weekend because of the Color Me Rad run. We met up with her and another sorority sister Chelsea for dinner, then everyone came back to our apartment to pregame/go downtown. Pregaming really just became playing Loaded Questions* until 11:45 then we figured we were all dressed up in costume, might as well head out.
We walked down Draper, and instead of passing Rivermill and Souvlaki and all that like we usually do, Shannon suggested we cut through the Architecture Annex parking lot to get to Tots quicker. This is when it happened.
Picture this. Its dark out, and the only lights around are the street lights that give off an orange-y, eerie glow that bounce off the brick buildings surrounding us. We navigated through some of the cars and headed into the open area of the parking lot, when out of nowhere a figure wearing a trench coat and a mask, propped up on VERY tall stilts, holding a SICKEL, pops out and stands right in front of us. We stare at him, he stares back. Then he lunges for us!
We start screaming in terror. I for one thought all the Halloween horror movies were coming true so I took off in a mad sprint. When I knew I was in the clear, I turned around and see Abby, arms flailing in the air, being chased down by this masked, stilted figure, who was aiming his sickel right for her. She was a goner.
Well not really, she got away and he stopped and mysteriously disappeared, but it was one of the funniest moments of my weekend. I don't think we made it to Tots until well after midnight because we sat on the hill in between the Annex and Tots and just laughed.
*We've been playing Loaded Questions a lot lately, and I have to say last night takes the cake for best questions. The main question was "What do you think life's greatest mysteries are?" and the three questions that I got to read out loud were:
"Why do we always have to run to the bathroom after d2?"
"where do babies come from?"
"who am i?"
We actually have answers to all these questions! But they are mysterious nevertheless.
