Dexter, some paint, some Snapchats, and a grouper
Haven't posted since 2012 - oops. I was so convinced the world was gonna end I just lost track of this poor little blog. Good thing it didn't end. I wouldn't have been able to do what I always dreamed of doing - watch every season of Dexter. I love that show but quite honestly, I got way too wrapped up in it. Some days over break I even contemplating making a Dexter breakfast; I'd seen it being made so many times I figured I just had to do it. Never did though, that would've been just too much. I found out Deb was an ENFJ too (or so the blogs say) and then had to take a hard reality check...am I going to end up sad and alone like Deb??? How in the WORLD could she be in love with Dexter...the man never laughs and has the shiftiest eyes...also Harrison is a straight up DERP. Kind of like Ricki...Anyway, finishing it took a huge weight off my shoulders. Andddd that is the biggest first world problem I've ever heard.
Break was great. This was the first time I've ever had a proper college break with no sorority recruitment cutting a week and a half off of it. The thought of that is nice...but the thought of getting back to school and making money again was nicer.
Here's some highlights from the longest winter break ever:
Christmas was cool, the grandparents came down. Drank the traditional bloody marys.
New Years was sweet, didn't spend any money! Success!
Got Snapchat and have since sent 1500 and received 2700...One day a few of us tried to write the lyrics to "Snapchat" by Akon. I'll write them down later, they were classic.
I painted my pink door with black stars back to classic white. Also painted the magnet paint on my walls back to white too. I guess after 10 years its time to switch it up. All my LOTR posters came down :(
Went out to Arlington a bunch and met some cool people. The best night happened pretty much by random: a friend last minute bailed on me so I called up other friends, met up with them and ended up making pacts to go to 30 Nats games and going to Falafel in Adams Morgan at 3 am. I still have dreams about that magical place.
A high school friend won a McFaddens happy hour, all of 2008 rolled up, a few of us rolled out in one kid's Hummer H2 and ended up off roading in Springfield at 2 am.
The same high school friend is going to Nepal for all of the spring, so as a last hurrah we went to a karaoke bar. How I ended up singing Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry with people doing the worm in front of me, I might never really know.
The night out that, for better or worse, was probably the most memorable (aside from our JMU trip), was our Grouper date. Grouper is a group blind dating "social club". [Disclaimer: some people questioned why we went on a grouper, my friend asked "are you searching for a boyfriend or something?" and the answer is no. We went on it because we've heard lots of good things, and how fun is it to meet up with a random group of 3 guys and get free drinks? We are adventurous. Humor me here.] Laura, Shannon and I decided to be "wingwomen" for each other, and we signed up. Our date was last Thursday at a gay bar in Adams Morgan called Mova (we have NO idea why we were told to meet up at a gay bar since none of us are gay...it was definitely a conversation starter though). We were encouraged to take a "groupergram" aka an Instagram, and upload it to try and win a getaway to Vegas. The 6 of us took a groupergram, and a few days later we were contacted to write our story of the night and potentially win this getaway. Below is what Shannon and I concocted (sorry Laura...we did the best we could), some parts are true, some aren't. I'll let you decide what's what:
The night began when we arrived at the corner of our destination. We
got out of our cab and noticed a bunch of guys getting out of the car
behind us. We all wondered if that was them, and were pleasantly
surprised when we found out it was! They were so cute and
hipster, we immediately clicked and started drinking. Funny story,
each of our groups brought a fourth wheel! What are the odds?? We had
the whole bar to ourselves, even the exclusive rooftop patio. It was
all fun and games and the music was on point. We had these crazy honey
drinks that dripped all over us. Thankfully our dates came to our
rescue and licked it off. We danced and laughed all night, there was
never any pressure. When the time came to take our instagram photo for
the night, we decided to showcase our cuddly personalities and cuddle
up. Later on we jumped in a cab and went back to their place to
continue the night. They have a sweet roof that we laid on and
stargazed. We took shots for every star we saw...there were a lot of
stars in the sky for some reason that night After the shots
unfortunately, 3 became 2 as one of wing woman passed out immediately.
Their dog Zoe was there too! I think she was rescued from a crack
house. The dog became a major source of fun too, we took tons of
pictures with her and then when we all jumped on the love sack to
cuddle and sleep, she joined us! Best pillow ever. In the morning they
made us crepes with fresh fruit and then drove us home. I'd say it was
the best blind date ever. Going into the Grouper date we had no
expectations, but what we got out of it was lifelong friendships, and
memories we will cherish forever.
The groupergram that could win us fame and fortune ^^
Gotta admit, I'm excited to graduate, but I'm even happier to be back here for a semester. I'm working 40 hours a week, taking 6 credits, and getting to hang out with great people. Not exactly sure what the semester holds, except that I know its going to be crazy busy with work and knocking off stuff on the bucket list.
This was pretty mishmashed but cool beans, you stuck with it. You're not too bad.
